As a school, we are firmly committed to continual improvement. We are always looking for better, more effective ways of doing things and embrace change wherever it genuinely benefits the learning environment we’ve created.
In March 2014, we were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. We see this as a strong foundation on which to continue to build and develop.
We have placed the promotion of a lifelong love of learning at the centre of everything we do. This is done through a rich and engaging curriculum where children are engaged in the learning process. We believe that children should have a keen sense of their own progress and subsequently develop a desire to succeed further.
We have adopted a restorative approach to conflict resolution. Children are encouraged to have respect for each other, to reflect on and explore their feelings and recognise the impact of their actions on the environment and those around them.
Having recently moved back into our newly extended, refurbished building, we are now better equipped than ever to provide the best possible learning experience for our pupils.
Beyond the classroom, we offer fantastic clubs including sports and cookery, and a music programme.

We recognise that without a team of good strong teachers and support staff, we would not be able to provide the learning experience that we have come to hold as standard.
The staff at Southwark Park are extremely supportive and friendly. We want every new member of staff to feel immediately at home and each new recruit receives a clear induction, driven by senior members of staff.
We are a lifelong learning organisation. As well as our pupils, we want our staff to have a desire to continue their learning and development. All our teachers’ benefit from the school’s Staff Development Policy, which meets the professional needs of all staff. Aligned with our school improvement plan, staff development will directly address the needs of the faculty and any skills or knowledge gaps. We work using a coaching model to do this.
We encourage our staff to be reflective practitioners and to be involved in our development process as they seek to identify areas where learning and teaching could be improved. We look to our staff to work together as a unit.
We have an excellent NQT programme that we are extremely proud of, providing new teachers with the supportive environment necessary to go forward. This includes a clear programme of mentoring and training.
We aim to ensure our staff are happy in their work and continue to develop throughout their careers.
Whilst we know that the biggest rewards lie in the impact that great teaching has on a child’s life and future, we always want to ensure that our staff are properly looked after.
