Our work
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.

Work with Shelter
Work with Shelter
Generations of people in this country have been failed. They’ve grown up and lived in homes that are just not good enough. This can’t go on.
Since 1966 we’ve been trying to change this – trying to put a home for everyone at the centre of political and public debate. We’ve had successes… but not enough.
We know we can’t do this alone. We need your help to make this happen – to help us meet our vision of a home for everyone. Whatever you do, wherever you are, you can join us in our mission.
Whether as a member of our team, as a campaigner or as a volunteer, whatever you have to offer will make a valuable difference to our fight. It will help millions of people believe there is someone on their side. Someone who believes in them, and believes they should have a home they can be proud of.
Join us – as an employee, a volunteer or a fundraiser – and make our vision a reality.
Equality and diversity
A core value of Shelter’s work is our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. We see it as a social and moral responsibility, and it informs everything we do.
We’ve put this into practice by assessing the equality and diversity impact of all our services, and by monitoring the diversity of our clients in order to help us understand the housing problems faced by different groups of people.
